this track was completely my idea. i wanted the concept of the world coming to an end correlating to anxiety and the feeling of helplessness and things being out of your control. the first part of the song was when i was listening to "a quiet farwell 2016-2018" by slauson malone a lot. i'd say this song is my favorite song off of that album, which is an incredible project. i wanted to let this sample breathe and do something over it, so i let it be the hook and we put low pass on it whenever i was rapping
the second part of the song is named "6.21 𓆣" because i sampled my best friend cody's song, and that is his birthday. the song is called "feel something" and is named after the movements album, which is his favorite of all-time, and is about his grandfather dying of cancer. i think it's an incredible song, and the way jed chopped it to say that was crazy to me. yousef, jed and i all chucked multiple ideas for distorted samples we could put in the harsh noise outro. the only one i'll leak is a distorted flightreacts sample you can hear in the transition from part one to part two. (you can hear the slowed down "niiiceee" lmfao). that was the last part of the tape that was completed. yousef made the entire transition and jed added the final sample. i wanted a harsh noise outro, and jed had never done that before and didn't think it sounded good at all. we were playing minecraft throughout this whole thing and he was just telling me "is this what you want?" lmfaooo this song came out exactly how i wanted it to. the transition's main sample is a video of a very loud washing machine in our airbnb from washington, d.c.
the harsh noise and sample distorting is supposed to represent the drowning cycle continuing, and looping back into blessed, one of the high points of the tape. the "𓆣" is a scarab in egyptian hieroglyphics, which symbolizes the renewal of life. this EP will lead into my debut album, eternal sky garden, with yousef.
lyrics
but now it’s juxtaposed, so i suppose
that imma need to raise the bar again
and let my shadow show when confidence arose
i used to think it was the final straw
despite the flaws, i'm standing tall
and still i got the scars to prove i beat the claws
man, at least that's what i used to think
but nowadays, i been off the chain with broken bonds
i stopped that once had used to link
the puke in sink mixed with the mucus leak
my throat shattered, not from rapping
but from every instance holding screams
but now i’m safe again, found tranquility for now
but the cycle's never-ending, in the future, know i'll drown
i’m not prepared for it, it's the déjà vu effect
and though i pulled myself out, predict the currents drag me back, man
PART II: 6.21 𓆣
i don’t know how to make you happy
i don’t know how to make you sad
i don't, make you happy, i-i make you sad
i don't, make you happy, i-i make you sad
i don't, make you happy, i-i make you sad
i don't, make you happy, i-i make you sad
i don't, make you happy, i-i make you sad
i don't, make you happy, i-i make you sad
